UGC Cards
Time the screenshot cards and captions of a UGC video to the creator's speech, check that each clip said its line, and get plain-language Notes on the run.
Available on Nodaro Cloud
The UGC Cards node times the screenshot cards and the captions of a UGC video to the creator's speech. It works on the joined video: the clips of UGC Clip, joined by Combine Videos. It also checks that each clip said its line, and writes the Notes.
UGC Cards finds when each word is said. From that, it times two things:
- The screenshot cards. Each screenshot pops up while the creator talks about it. The cards leave as a layer plan for Video Overlay.
- The captions. The plan holds the opening line, where it ends, and the timed words of the rest. The captions leave as a caption plan for Add Captions. Add Captions draws the opening line with the Hook Plate look, and the rest in its own caption style.
UGC Cards runs on Nodaro Cloud only. On any other install, every UGC node fails before anything is reserved, with "UGC videos are a Nodaro Cloud feature and are not served on this deployment."
When to use it
- You joined the clips of a UGC video and want the screenshot cards and the captions timed to the speech.
- You want to know which clips to re-render, from plain sentences about the run.
Quick start
Add the node
Press Tab on the canvas and choose Video › UGC Video › UGC Cards.
Connect the inputs
Wire the Script (sized) and Transcript outputs of UGC Clips into Script and Transcript. Wire the joined video from Combine Videos into Video. Wire the Video output of UGC Clip into Clip notes.
Connect the plans
Wire Layer plan into the Layer plan input of Video Overlay. Wire Caption plan into the Caption plan input of Add Captions.
Run and read the Notes
Run the workflow. Read the Notes on the node or in its settings panel.
Inputs
| Input | Required | What to connect |
|---|---|---|
| Script | Yes | The Script (sized) output of UGC Clips. Anything else fails the node, before either timing job starts, with "Connect the Script (sized) output of UGC Clips." |
| Video | Yes | The joined video, from Combine Videos. Without it, the node fails with "Connect the joined video." |
| Transcript | Yes | The Transcript output of UGC Clips. Without it, the node fails with "Connect the Transcript output of UGC Clips." |
| Clip notes | No | The Video output of UGC Clip. UGC Cards reads each clip's warnings and real length. A clip made longer to fit its voice moves the windows of the speech check. Without this input, the Notes say nothing about the clips. |
Outputs
| Output | What it carries |
|---|---|
| Layer plan | The screenshot cards, as JSON, for the Layer plan input of Video Overlay. |
| Caption plan | The captions, as JSON, for the Caption plan input of Add Captions. |
| Notes | Plain text, one sentence per line. In a published app, the Notes are a text output. |
Settings
UGC Cards has no settings. The settings panel shows the last run's Notes.
How the words are timed
The word timings come from a word alignment of the clips' words against the joined video.
- If the alignment fails or finds no words, the cards and captions are timed from speech recognition instead.
- If the transcription fails or hears no words, the speech check does not run.
- If the video's clips cannot be told apart, the speech check does not run either.
- If nothing can be timed, both plans are empty. Video Overlay and Add Captions then pass the video through unchanged, at no cost.
The Notes say which of these happened.
The Notes
"No issues." appears only when nothing went wrong and every check ran: each clip's own checks and the speech check. A check that did not run always gets its own sentence.
| When | Sentence |
|---|---|
| No screenshots, or only 1 or 2, which the script drops | No screenshot cards: the video is the creator talking. Add 3 to 8 screenshots for cards. |
| The word alignment failed or found no words | Captions and cards were timed from speech recognition. |
| The transcription failed or heard no words | The speech check did not run: the speech could not be transcribed. |
| The video's clips could not be told apart, so no clip's words could be checked | The speech check did not run: the video's clips could not be told apart. |
| Nothing could be timed | No cards or captions: the speech could not be timed. |
| A card would have covered the closing line | Card n was left out: it would have covered the closing line. |
| A clip failed its check twice | Clip n still showed a problem after one re-render (what the check found). Re-render it from the UGC Clip node. |
| A clip failed its check with no room left to re-render it | Clip n showed a problem (what the check found) and there was no room left to re-render it. Re-render it from the UGC Clip node. |
| A clip's re-render failed | Clip n's re-render failed, so the first render is kept. |
| A clip's automatic check could not run, so the clip was kept unchecked | Clip n was kept without its automatic check: the check could not run this time. Watch it, and re-render it from the UGC Clip node if something looks wrong. |
| A clip's speech did not match its line | Clip n may not say its line exactly: heard "what was heard". |
| A clip was made longer to fit its voice | Clip n was lengthened to fit its voice. |
| Nothing went wrong and every check ran | No issues. |
Credits
UGC Cards has no price of its own. It runs two jobs on the joined video, each billed at its own price:
- one word-alignment job, at the price of Forced Alignment: 33 credits;
- one transcription job, billed at its own price.
When your credits cannot cover both jobs, the node stops with the usual credits refusal. The cards are never made without their captions. The node first checks that the UGC routes are served, at no cost, so nothing is paid where they are not.
The editor shows the price of the whole run before it starts. See Prices in the editor.
Tips
- Read the Notes after every run. A clip that may not say its line, or one that still showed a problem, is the one to re-render on UGC Clip.
- Wire UGC Clip into Clip notes. Without it, the Notes say nothing about the clips.
- Publishing ships no cards or Notes. A template published with Include this run's results shows the cards and the Notes as an example.
Troubleshooting
| Message or problem | Cause and fix |
|---|---|
| "Connect the Script (sized) output of UGC Clips." | Script is empty, or holds the output of another node, such as UGC Script. Wire the Script (sized) output of UGC Clips. |
| "Connect the joined video." | Wire the joined video from Combine Videos into Video. |
| "Connect the Transcript output of UGC Clips." | Wire the Transcript output of UGC Clips into Transcript. |
| The video has no cards. | Fewer than 3 screenshots are connected to UGC Script. Add 3 to 8 screenshots. |
| The video has no cards and no captions. | The speech could not be timed. The Notes say so. Check that the joined video has the creator's speech. |
| The Notes say nothing about the clips. | Wire the Video output of UGC Clip into Clip notes. |
From the API
UGC Cards calls POST /v1/ugc/cards when it runs. Its first call is GET /v1/ugc/categories, which is free and checks that the UGC routes are served. The request and answer shapes of the UGC routes belong to the nodes and may change between versions. To make a UGC video from code, run a workflow or a published app that holds the UGC nodes.
In the result of an API run, the Notes are UGC Cards' text. See Workflows and Executions.
AI assistants connected through MCP use separate UGC tools, such as build_ugc_cards. The ugc-website recipe, loaded with get_recipe, explains them. See Content recipes.
Frequently asked questions
What does the UGC Cards node do?
UGC Cards finds when each word is said in the joined UGC video. From that, it times the screenshot cards for Video Overlay and the captions for Add Captions. It also checks each clip's speech and writes the Notes.
How many credits does UGC Cards cost?
UGC Cards has no price of its own. It runs one word-alignment job and one transcription job on the joined video, each billed at its own price.
What are the Notes?
The Notes are plain sentences about anything that did not go to plan, one per line, such as a clip that may not say its line exactly. When nothing went wrong and every check ran, they say "No issues."
Why does my UGC video have no screenshot cards?
The video has cards only with 3 to 8 screenshots on UGC Script. With none, or with 1 or 2, the video is the creator talking, and the Notes say so.
What happens if the speech cannot be timed?
Both plans are empty. Video Overlay and Add Captions then pass the video through unchanged, at no cost, and the Notes say that the speech could not be timed.
