Text

Write a prompt or any other text once and send it to image, video, audio and AI text nodes. Insert the values of other nodes with variables.

The Text node holds text that you type and sends it to the nodes you connect it to. It is the most common first node of a workflow. Write a prompt once, then wire it into Generate Image, Generate Video, Text to Speech, a Prompt node or any other input that accepts text. The Text node never runs a model, so it costs no credits.

When to use it

  • You need a prompt for an image, video, speech or music node.
  • You want to write a text once and use it in several places, for example one negative prompt for three image nodes.
  • You write the spoken text for Text to Speech or the lyrics for Suno Create Music.
  • You want to build a text from the values of other nodes, with variables.

Quick start

Add the node

Press Tab on the canvas and choose Automate › Text › Text. The Text node is also on the Common tab, and next to the upload nodes on the Image, Video and Audio tabs.

Write the text

Type directly in the node, or in Prompt Text in the settings panel.

Connect it

Drag from the output on the right of the node to an input that accepts text, such as the Prompt input of Generate Image.

Run the connected nodes

Point at the Text node and click Run from here below it. The button shows the credits of the nodes that will run, and every node after the Text node runs with the current text.

One Text node feeds the prompt of an image node and of a video node. A second Text node holds the negative prompt.

Settings

SettingWhat it does
Writing forText for a plain prompt (the default), Voice for spoken text, or Lyrics for song lyrics. With Voice, typing [ in the text suggests audio tags for speech. With Lyrics, typing [ suggests Suno metatags. The choice changes the suggestions in the editor, not the text that the node sends.
Prompt TextThe text itself. It can contain variables, such as {Mood}. The buttons next to the label switch to a preview of the final text, insert a prompt snippet, and open the prompt helper.
Read-only in appAppears when the Text node is an input of a published app. App users see the text but cannot change it.

The output carries the text. It can feed any number of nodes at once, and each node reads the text when it runs.

Use variables in the text

You can put the value of another node in the text by writing its label in curly braces. {Mood} becomes whatever the Mood picker is set to, and {Maya} becomes the text of a node labeled Maya.

  • A default value. {person || man} uses the connected Person picker when there is one, and the word "man" when there is not. {person || }, with nothing after the bars, becomes empty text.
  • Highlighting. In the prompt editor of the connected node, a variable is cyan when a matching node is connected and amber when nothing provides it yet. Amber is only a warning: a variable with a default still works.
  • A missing node stops the run. If a variable names a node that does not exist anywhere in the workflow, the run is refused before any credits are spent.
  • Wired text stays as it is. Text that reaches a node through a connection is treated as content. Nodaro does not look for variables in it.

Tips

  • One purpose per node. Keep the prompt and the negative prompt in separate Text nodes, so that you can change one without touching the other.
  • Many prompts at once. To run a node once per prompt, put one prompt per line and connect a Split Text node, or use a List node.
  • Build a prompt from parts. Use Combine Text to join several Text nodes, or variables to insert values inside one text.
  • Let a model write the text. When you want an AI model to write or rewrite the text, use a Prompt node instead.
