# Upscale Video

> Increase a video's resolution with AI, using Topaz at 1x, 2x or 4x for any clip, or VEO 1080p and VEO 4K for a video made by a VEO model in the same workflow.

The **Upscale Video** node increases the resolution of a video with AI. It has two kinds of provider. **Topaz** scales any video by a factor of 1x, 2x or 4x. **VEO** re-renders a video made by a VEO model at 1080p or 4K.

## When to use it
- You generated a video at 480p or 720p and need 1080p or 4K for publishing.
- You want to improve the quality of a finished clip before delivery. Topaz at 1x enhances the picture without changing its size.
- You prepare a video for a large screen or a high-resolution display.

## Quick start
### Add the node

Press Tab on the canvas and choose **Video › Format & Export › Upscale Video**.

### Connect a video

Drag from the output of a video node to the **Video** input. For a VEO provider, connect the video output of the [Generate Video](https://nodaro.ai/docs/nodes/video/generate-video) node that made the clip with a VEO model.

### Choose the provider

Open the settings panel and choose a **Provider**. For Topaz, also choose an **Upscale Factor**. On Nodaro Cloud, each provider shows its credit price in the list.

### Run it

Click **Run** on the node. The node card names the provider, for example "Topaz 2x Upscale" or "VEO 1080p Upscale".

Workflow: A VEO generation is re-rendered in 4K by the VEO 4K provider, then saved.

VEO upscaling does not process a file. It re-renders the original VEO generation at a higher resolution. That is why an uploaded video, or a clip from any other model, cannot feed it. Wire the VEO node's video output straight into Upscale Video.

## Credits
The price depends on the provider, as listed in the [Models](#models) table. A run that is refused before it starts, such as a VEO provider without a VEO source, costs nothing.

## Tips
- **Upscale last.** Trim, caption and add effects first, so no step has to process the larger video.
- **Start from a clean video.** Upscaling works best on a clean source. Apply effects and clean-up before the upscale, not after.
- **Keep VEO 4K for final work.** It is the most expensive option. Use it for deliverables that really need 4K.
- **Enhance without resizing.** Topaz at 1x improves the picture and keeps the resolution.

## Troubleshooting
**The run is refused with a message to connect the VEO node or switch to Topaz.** A VEO provider needs a video that a VEO model generated in this workflow. Connect that Generate Video node directly, or choose **Topaz factor-based**. No credits are reserved for a refused run.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can I upscale any video with VEO 1080p or VEO 4K?

No. The VEO providers re-render a video that a VEO model generated earlier in the same workflow, so the video must come straight from that VEO node. For uploaded videos and clips from other models, choose Topaz.

### What does the Topaz 1x factor do?

1x keeps the resolution and only enhances the picture with AI. Use it to clean up a clip without making it larger.

### How many credits does Upscale Video cost?

The price depends on the provider. VEO 1080p is the cheapest, VEO 4K the most expensive, and Topaz sits in between. The Models table on this page lists the current credit price of each.

### Is there a size limit for the input video?

With the Topaz provider, the input video can be up to 50 MB.

### Where should Upscale Video go in a workflow?

Put it at the end, after trimming, captions and effects. Upscaling first would make every later step process a larger video.
