# Scene Count

> The Scene Count node holds a number of scenes, 5 by default. It cannot be wired into Generate Script, which has its own Number of Scenes setting.

Source: https://nodaro.ai/docs/nodes/settings/scene-count

The **Scene Count** node holds a number of scenes, from 1 to 20, with 5 as the default. It never runs a model and costs nothing.

- Found in: Models › Generation Settings
- Output: text
- API type: `scene-count`

**It does not change a run:**
The canvas refuses a wire from Scene Count to [Generate Script](https://nodaro.ai/docs/nodes/video/generate-script), so the number it holds never reaches a run. Set **Number of Scenes** in Generate Script itself.

## Settings
| Setting | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| **Number of Scenes** | A number from 1 to 20. The default is `5`. |

## How many scenes to choose

Match the count to the length of the video. A scene usually becomes one clip of about 3 to 5 seconds, so a 30-second video needs about 6 to 10 scenes, and a 60-second script with 10 scenes gives about 6 seconds per scene.

Keep the count between 3 and 15 for the best scripts. Very high counts can produce shallow, repetitive scenes.

## Tips
- **Set the length next to the count.** In Generate Script, **Target Length (seconds)** sits beside **Number of Scenes**, and the script spreads the length across the scenes.
- **Remember the cost of each scene.** Each extra scene usually adds an image and a clip after the script.

## Frequently asked questions

### Does the Scene Count node set the number of scenes of a script?

No. It cannot be connected to Generate Script, so its number does not reach a run. Set Number of Scenes in Generate Script itself, from 1 to 20.

### How many scenes should a 30-second video have?

About 6 to 10, if each scene becomes a clip of 3 to 5 seconds. Divide the target length by the length of one clip.

### Why do my scenes feel repetitive?

Very high scene counts can make scene descriptions shallow and repetitive. Keep the count between 3 and 15 for the best scripts.

### Does the Scene Count node cost credits?

No. It only holds a value. More scenes usually mean more image and video generations after the script, and those cost credits.
