# Motion

> The Motion node holds a motion level, Subtle, Moderate or Dynamic. It cannot be wired into Generate Video, which has its own Motion hint setting.

The **Motion** node holds a motion level: **Subtle**, **Moderate** or **Dynamic**. It never runs a model and costs nothing.

**It does not change a run:** 
The canvas refuses a wire from Motion to [Generate Video](https://nodaro.ai/docs/nodes/video/generate-video), so the level it holds never reaches a run. Generate Video has the same three levels in its own **Motion hint (injected into prompt)** setting.

## Settings

## The three levels

| Level | What it asks for | Use it for |

| **Subtle** | Minimal movement. Slow, gentle camera drifts, and subjects that stay mostly still. | Calm scenes, dialogue, talking heads, product showcases |
| **Moderate** | Balanced movement. Natural camera motion with moderate subject activity. | Most content |
| **Dynamic** | High energy. Fast camera motion and active subjects. | Action, sports and music videos |

A motion level is a hint, not a precise control. Each video model reads it differently, and the prompt and the subject also shape how much moves.

## Control motion in a clip

- **The amount of movement:** set **Motion hint (injected into prompt)** in Generate Video.
- **A specific camera move:** connect a [Camera Motion](https://nodaro.ai/docs/nodes/creative-controls/camera-motion) picker to the video node's **Look** input.
- **What the subject does:** connect a [Character Motion](https://nodaro.ai/docs/nodes/creative-controls/character-motion) picker, or describe the action in the prompt.

## Frequently asked questions

### Does the Motion node set how much my clips move?

No. It cannot be connected to Generate Video, so its level does not reach a run. Use the Motion hint (injected into prompt) setting in Generate Video, which offers the same three levels.

### What do the motion levels mean?

Subtle means minimal movement and slow camera drifts, Moderate means natural, balanced movement, and Dynamic means fast camera moves and active subjects.

### How do I choose a specific camera move?

Use the Camera Motion picker. It adds tested wording for a pan, a dolly, an orbit and many other moves.

### Does the Motion node cost credits?

No. It only holds a value and never runs a model.
