# Weapon

> Pick one of 85 weapons, from katanas and longbows to muskets, blasters and magic staffs, and Nodaro adds the weapon and a short description to your prompt.

Source: https://nodaro.ai/docs/nodes/creative-controls/weapon

The **Weapon** picker adds a weapon to an image or a video. You choose one weapon from its catalog, such as a katana, a longbow, a flintlock pistol, a blaster or a magic staff. Nodaro adds the weapon and a short description of its form to the prompt of every node you connect it to. The picker never calls a model, so it costs no credits.

- Found in: Creative Controls › Subject
- Output: text
- API type: `weapon`

## When to use it
- Action sequences and combat staging.
- Period drama: medieval knights, samurai or the Wild West.
- Fantasy and sci-fi character design.
- Game cinematics and promotional art.

## How to use it
### Add the picker

Open the node picker and choose **Creative Controls › Subject › Weapon**.

### Choose a weapon

Select the node and choose a weapon in the settings panel. The tiles are grouped by kind, and each tile shows an emoji icon of the weapon.

### Connect it

Drag from the picker's output to the **Elements** input of a [Generate Image](https://nodaro.ai/docs/nodes/image/generate-image) or [Generate Video](https://nodaro.ai/docs/nodes/video/generate-video) node. You can also connect it to a [Text](https://nodaro.ai/docs/nodes/automate/text) or [Prompt](https://nodaro.ai/docs/nodes/automate/prompt) node to include the wording in a longer text.

### Run the image or video node

The weapon's wording is added to the end of the prompt when the connected node runs.

Workflow: Person, Weapon and Pose pickers feed the Elements input of Generate Image to stage a samurai in a fighting stance.

- Text → Generate Image (prompt)
- Person → Generate Image (elements)
- Weapon → Generate Image (elements)
- Pose → Generate Image (elements)

## Settings
| Setting | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| **Weapon** | The weapon to add. The default is **Katana**. |
| **Custom text (before)** | Your own words, added before the weapon's wording. |
| **Custom text (after)** | Your own words, added after the weapon's wording. |
| **Prompt hint** | **Full** adds the weapon and a description of it. **Compact** adds only the short name. See [Creative Controls](https://nodaro.ai/docs/guides/creative-controls). |

To see the exact words the picker will add, switch the node to the **Prompt** or **Both** display mode. The settings panel shows the same text under **Will inject into prompt**.

## What it adds to the prompt

In **Full** mode, the picker writes "with a", the weapon's name and one sentence about its shape and details. The descriptions focus on form and silhouette and avoid gratuitous detail. For **Katana** it adds:

```text
with a katana, Japanese katana with a single-edged gently curved blade, wrapped rayskin handle, disc-shaped tsuba guard and a polished mirror finish
```

In **Compact** mode, it adds only `katana`. Use **Compact** when your prompt already describes the weapon, or when many pickers feed one node.

## Tips
- **Stage the fight.** Pair the picker with [Pose](https://nodaro.ai/docs/nodes/creative-controls/pose), for example **Fighting Stance**, and with [Person](https://nodaro.ai/docs/nodes/creative-controls/person) for the fighter.
- **Match the weapon to its period.** Add [Era / Period](https://nodaro.ai/docs/nodes/creative-controls/era), for example **Medieval** with a longsword or **Wild West** with a revolver.
- **Show wear and history.** Use **Custom text (before)**, for example `battle-worn`.
- **Use Held Prop for everything else.** For a phone, a book or a bouquet, use [Held Prop](https://nodaro.ai/docs/nodes/creative-controls/held-prop).

Full adds the weapon's name and a one-sentence description of its shape and details. Compact adds only the short name, such as katana.
