# Render Quality

The **Render Quality** picker pushes an image toward the look of a specific rendering engine or technique. You choose a preset from its catalog, such as Ray Tracing, Unreal Engine 5, Octane Render, Global Illumination or Ultra Detailed. Nodaro adds tested wording for it to the prompt of every node you connect it to. Use it when you want a computer-graphics result rather than a photographic one. The picker never calls a model, so it costs no credits.

## When to use it
- Make a product visualization: Ray Tracing, Octane Render or V-Ray.
- Give a scene a game-engine look: Unreal Engine 5 with Lumen Reflections.
- Describe how light behaves in a 3D scene: Global Illumination, Volumetric Lighting or Photon Mapping.
- Add a quality or resolution term, such as Ultra Detailed, 8K UHD or Raw Photo.

## How to use it
### Add the picker

Open the node picker and choose **Creative Controls › Light & Look › Render Quality**.

### Choose a preset

Click the node and choose a preset from the list.

### Connect it

Drag from the picker's output to the **Look** input of a [Generate Image](https://nodaro.ai/docs/nodes/image/generate-image) or [Generate Video](https://nodaro.ai/docs/nodes/video/generate-video) node. You can also connect it to a [Text](https://nodaro.ai/docs/nodes/automate/text) or [Prompt](https://nodaro.ai/docs/nodes/automate/prompt) node to use the wording in a longer text.

### Run the image node

The preset's wording is added to the end of the prompt when the connected node runs.

Workflow: A 3D Render style and an Octane Render preset give a product shot a CG render look.

- Render Quality → Generate Image (look)

## Settings
| Setting | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| **Render Quality** | The preset to add. The default is **Ray Tracing**. |
| **Custom text (before)** | Your own words, added before the preset's wording, for example `early ray-traced`. |
| **Custom text (after)** | Your own words, added after the preset's wording, for example `with lens caustics`. |
| **Prompt hint** | **Full** (default) adds a longer description of the preset. **Compact** adds only the short term. See [Full or Compact](https://nodaro.ai/docs/nodes/creative-controls#full-or-compact). |

To see the exact words the picker will add, switch the node to the **Prompt** or **Both** display mode. The settings panel shows the same text under **Will inject into prompt**.

## Tips
- **Pair it with a 3D style.** Render Quality works best with the 3D Render, Pixar 3D or Low Poly style in [Style](https://nodaro.ai/docs/nodes/creative-controls/style).
- **Finish the frame.** Add [Post-Process Effects](https://nodaro.ai/docs/nodes/creative-controls/post-process-effects), such as Bloom Glow or Fine Film Grain, to soften a render that looks too clean.
- **Keep photos photographic.** For a real photo look, leave this picker out and use [Photo Genre](https://nodaro.ai/docs/nodes/creative-controls/photo-genre) or [Camera / Film Stock](https://nodaro.ai/docs/nodes/creative-controls/camera-format) instead.

### What does the Render Quality picker do?

### Does the Render Quality picker cost credits?

No. Pickers only change the prompt. You pay only for the generation node that uses it.

### Does the picker render the image in that engine?

No. The image is still made by the model of the connected node. The picker only adds words that describe the look of that render engine or technique.
