# Post-Process Effects

> Add finishing effects to an AI image or video, such as Fine Film Grain, Soft Vignette, Halation Glow or Light Leak. Pick up to 2 of 18 post-process effects.

The **Post-Process Effects** picker adds the finishing touches of a photo lab or a grading suite: vignette, grain, halation, bloom, light leaks and more. You choose up to two effects, and Nodaro adds tested wording for them to the prompt of every node you connect it to. These analog imperfections help a generated image look less artificial. The picker never calls a model, so it costs no credits.

## When to use it
- Fight the plastic look of an AI image with Fine Film Grain or Heavy Film Grain.
- Give highlights a filmic glow with Halation Glow or Bloom Glow.
- Age an image with a Light Leak, a Film Burn or Scratched Emulsion.
- Direct the eye with a Soft Vignette, a Heavy Vignette or Dodge & Burn.

## How to use it
### Add the picker

Open the node picker and choose **Creative Controls › Effects › Post-Process Effects**.

### Choose up to two effects

Click the node and choose an effect from the list. Choose a second one to combine them. A new node starts with **Soft Vignette**.

### Connect it

Drag from the picker's output to the **Look** input of a [Generate Image](https://nodaro.ai/docs/nodes/image/generate-image) or [Generate Video](https://nodaro.ai/docs/nodes/video/generate-video) node. You can also connect it to a [Text](https://nodaro.ai/docs/nodes/automate/text) or [Prompt](https://nodaro.ai/docs/nodes/automate/prompt) node to use the wording in a longer text.

### Run the image or video node

The effect's wording is added to the end of the prompt when the connected node runs.

Workflow: A film grade and two finishing effects give a generated portrait a film look.

- Text → Generate Image (prompt)
- Color / Look → Generate Image (look)
- Post-Process Effects → Generate Image (look)

## Settings
| Setting | What it does |

| **Post-Process Effect** | The effects to add. Pick up to 2. The default is **Soft Vignette**. |
| **Custom text (before)** | Your own words, added before the effect's wording, for example `light dose`. |
| **Custom text (after)** | Your own words, added after the effect's wording, for example `plus subtle film grain`. |
| **Prompt hint** | **Full** (default) adds a longer description of each effect. **Compact** adds only the short terms. See [Full or Compact](https://nodaro.ai/docs/nodes/creative-controls#full-or-compact). |

To see the exact words the picker will add, switch the node to the **Prompt** or **Both** display mode. The settings panel shows the same text under **Will inject into prompt**.

## Tips
- **Complete the grade.** Stack this picker with [Color / Look](https://nodaro.ai/docs/nodes/creative-controls/color-look): the grade sets the colors, and the effects add the texture.
- **Match the medium.** Grain and halation read naturally with a film format from [Camera / Film Stock](https://nodaro.ai/docs/nodes/creative-controls/camera-format), such as 35mm Film.
- **Soften a render.** On a CG image made with [Render Quality](https://nodaro.ai/docs/nodes/creative-controls/render-quality), a little grain or bloom makes the result feel photographed.

### What does the Post-Process Effects picker do?

It adds finishing effects, such as film grain, a vignette, halation or a light leak, to the prompt of every image or video node it is connected to. These analog imperfections make a generated image feel less artificial.

### Does the Post-Process Effects picker cost credits?

No. Pickers only change the prompt. You pay only for the generation node that uses it.

### Does Nodaro apply the grain to the finished image?

No. The effect is written into the prompt, and the model generates the image with it. Nodaro does not process the result afterward.

### Can I combine two effects?

Yes. Pick up to 2, for example Fine Film Grain with Halation Glow.
