# Photo Genre

The **Photo Genre** picker sets the kind of photograph an image should look like. You choose a genre from its catalog, such as Fashion Editorial, Street Photography, Corporate Headshot, Mirror Selfie or Movie Poster. Nodaro adds tested wording for that genre to the prompt of every node you connect it to. Each genre carries the framing and lighting habits of that kind of photo. The picker never calls a model, so it costs no credits.

## When to use it
- Give a portrait the conventions of its use: a Corporate Headshot, a Yearbook photo or an ID / Passport photo.
- Make content for a campaign or a shop: Lookbook, Campaign / Ad, E-commerce Flat Lay or Product Shot.
- Make an image feel candid: Street Photography, Paparazzi, Snapshot or Point-and-Shoot / Disposable.
- Match a social format: Mirror Selfie, Front Cam Selfie, BeReal Dual or Lo-Fi 2010s Selfie.

## How to use it
### Add the picker

Open the node picker and choose **Creative Controls › Light & Look › Photo Genre**.

### Choose a genre

Click the node and choose a genre from the list. The genres are grouped into **Editorial / Fashion**, **Documentary / Candid**, **Studio / Formal**, **Selfie**, **Print / Context**, **Lifestyle** and **Commercial**.

### Connect it

Drag from the picker's output to the **Look** input of a [Generate Image](https://nodaro.ai/docs/nodes/image/generate-image) or [Generate Video](https://nodaro.ai/docs/nodes/video/generate-video) node. You can also connect it to a [Text](https://nodaro.ai/docs/nodes/automate/text) or [Prompt](https://nodaro.ai/docs/nodes/automate/prompt) node to use the wording in a longer text.

### Run the image node

The genre's wording is added to the end of the prompt when the connected node runs.

Workflow: A character asset, a prompt, and Photo Genre and Lens pickers feed one Generate Image node.

## Settings
| Setting | What it does |

| **Photo Genre** | The genre to add. The default is **Fashion Editorial**. |
| **Custom text (before)** | Your own words, added before the genre's wording, for example `mid-action`. |
| **Custom text (after)** | Your own words, added after the genre's wording, for example `behind-the-scenes feel`. |
| **Prompt hint** | **Full** (default) adds a longer description of the genre. **Compact** adds only the short term. See [Full or Compact](https://nodaro.ai/docs/nodes/creative-controls#full-or-compact). |

To see the exact words the picker will add, switch the node to the **Prompt** or **Both** display mode. The settings panel shows the same text under **Will inject into prompt**.
