# Instrumentation

> Choose the sound of AI music: up to 5 of 112 instruments, a production style, the vocals and a singing style. Works with Suno, Generate Music and Text to Audio.

The **Instrumentation** picker sets what a piece of music is played and sung with. You choose up to five instruments, a production style, the vocals and a singing style, such as Acoustic Guitar and Piano, Lo-fi production and a Female Lead. Nodaro adds the matching words to the style or prompt of the music node you connect it to. The picker never calls a model, so it costs no credits.

## When to use it
- Name the instruments of a track instead of hoping the model picks them: Rhodes, Upright Bass, Brass Section.
- Set the production sound, such as Polished, Lo-fi, Live, Tape Saturated or 8-bit Retro.
- Choose who sings: a Male Lead, a Female Lead, a Duet, a Choir or a Rapper.
- Make an instrumental track for a video background.

## How to use it
### Add the picker

Open the node picker on the **Audio** tab and choose **Creative Controls › Music & Voice › Instrumentation**.

### Choose the instruments and the voice

Click the node. The **Instruments** section has a row of tabs for the instrument families: **Drums**, **Percussion**, **Keys**, **Synth**, **Guitar**, **Bass**, **Brass**, **Woodwinds**, **Strings**, **World** and **Middle Eastern**. Then set **Production**, **Vocal Presence** and **Singing Style** as needed. Every part is optional.

### Run the music node

The instrumentation is added to the music node's request when it runs.

- Suno Create Music → Merge Video & Audio (audio)

## Settings

| **Instruments** | Up to 5 instruments from 112, grouped in 11 families. |
| **Production** | One production style, such as Polished, Lo-fi, Raw, Wall of Sound, Studio Pristine or Tape Saturated. |
| **Vocal Presence** | Up to 3 vocal choices, such as Male Lead, Female Lead, Duet, Choir or Spoken Word. **Instrumental** stands alone: picking it clears the other vocal choices, and picking another choice clears Instrumental. |
| **Singing Style** | Up to 3 singing styles, such as Operatic, Rap, Falsetto, Belting, Crooning or Whisper Sing. |
| **Custom text (before)** | Your own words, added before the instrumentation, for example `acoustic intro`. |
| **Custom text (after)** | Your own words, added after the instrumentation, for example `with subtle string pads`. |
| **Prompt hint** | **Full** (default) adds the longer description. **Compact** adds only the short terms. See [Full or Compact](https://nodaro.ai/docs/nodes/creative-controls#full-or-compact). |

A new node starts empty and adds nothing until you pick. The words are built in a fixed order: the production, then the instruments, then the vocals, then the singing style.

To see the exact words the picker will add, switch the node to the **Prompt** or **Both** display mode. The settings panel shows the same text under **Will inject into prompt**.

### How do I make an instrumental track?

Set Vocal Presence to Instrumental. It clears any other vocal choice. On Generate Music, the track is then made without vocals, even if the node's own Instrumental setting is off.
